The University of Notre Dame’s School of Medicine alumni community is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Jasmine Lamb, whose life was marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to others. Jasmine tragically passed while caring for a friend’s relative on Lord Howe Island. She went for a morning swim and is believed to have experienced a sudden medical episode. Despite the immediate and courageous efforts of bystanders to resuscitate her, Jasmine could not be revived. Her sudden departure has left a profound sense of loss among family, friends, colleagues, and the students she mentored.
Jasmine, a proud member of the University of Notre Dame’s 2009 graduating class, will be remembered for her remarkable contributions as Year Coordinator. In this role, she was far more than an administrator; she was a steady, empathetic presence who guided students through one of the most demanding and formative periods of their lives. Jasmine celebrated their successes, provided support during challenges, and fostered a strong sense of community that endured well beyond graduation. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom, shaping the lives of countless young professionals who carry forward her lessons of empathy, resilience, and integrity.
Beyond her professional achievements, Jasmine’s life reflected her wide-ranging passions and commitment to serving others. She was deeply involved in surf life saving, classical music, choir, and mentoring female students in STEM. In each of these pursuits, she brought the same warmth, dedication, and generosity that defined her career. Jasmine’s presence uplifted those around her, and her ability to build inclusive, supportive communities made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
Jasmine Lamb leaves behind a legacy of mentorship, kindness, and inspiration that will continue to resonate with her students, colleagues, and the broader community. Her generosity of spirit, her dedication to uplifting others, and her passion for life will be remembered with profound respect and gratitude.
